Decorative veneer panels are a commonly used decorative material in modern home interior design.
1. Understand the difference between artificial veneer and natural wood veneer: The former has a mostly straight grain pattern with regular patterns; the latter has natural wood grain patterns with greater natural variability and no regularity.
2. Good decorative properties: The decorative panel should have a good aesthetic appearance, fine and uniform texture, clear color, and beautiful wood grain. The grain of the panels and the patterns should be arranged according to certain rules, the wood color should be similar, and the joints and edges should be nearly parallel.
3. The surface should be free of obvious defects: The selected decorative panel should have a smooth surface, free of burrs, scratches, and planing marks; there should be no glue penetration (such as localized blackening or yellowing); try to choose panels without cracks, splits, bark inclusions, resin pockets, and resin canals; the natural curvature of the entire panel should be as small as possible, avoiding sanding defects caused by improper sanding techniques that expose the substrate.
4. Stable adhesive layer structure, no delamination: Pay attention to ensuring that there are no bulges or delamination between the surface veneer and the substrate, and between the layers within the substrate.
5. Knife-prying method to test bonding strength: This is the most intuitive method to test bonding strength. Use a sharp flat blade to pry along the adhesive layer. If the adhesive layer cracks but the wood is damaged, it indicates poor bonding strength.
6. Choose panels with low formaldehyde emission: Avoid decorative panels with pungent odors. The stronger the odor, the higher the formaldehyde emission, the more serious the pollution, and the greater the harm.
7. Choose products with clearly identified manufacturers: Most products with clear factory names, addresses, and trademarks have relatively reliable performance.
