Common problems with upholstered furniture

Seat cushion collapse: The sponge density is insufficient. After prolonged sitting, the areas and edges that have been sat on should be frequently patted to restore their original shape and reduce sagging caused by concentrated pressure.

Loose frame: Not a mortise and tenon joint structure; the wooden materials used are of poor quality, such as those with wormholes, veneer, or soft wood; the manufacturing process is unreasonable.

Fabric pilling and fading: The fabric quality is poor.

Odor: The wooden materials, adhesives, and sponges used in soft furnishings such as sofas and beds can produce odors, so it's best to choose sofas from reputable brands.

In addition, fabric soft furnishings are prone to static electricity and pilling, which are related to the texture of the fabric.

Maintenance
1. Leather sofas should be placed away from heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent the leather from aging.

2. After using a mattress for a period of time (approximately three months), flipping or rotating it will extend its lifespan.

Sofa Maintenance
Fabric sofas are more delicate than other types of sofas and require frequent cleaning and maintenance. Here's a brief introduction to fabric sofa maintenance.

First, you can pat it with a dry towel regularly, and vacuum it at least once a week. It's best to vacuum fabric sofas regularly, ideally once a week. The armrests and seat cushions are prone to getting dirty, so you should cover them with attractive sofa covers or large towels. The armrests, backrests, and crevices of the sofa must also be cleaned, but when using a vacuum cleaner, do not use a brush attachment to avoid damaging the fabric fibers and making the fabric fluffy. Also, avoid using excessive suction, as this may cause the fibers to break. Consider using a small vacuum cleaner for cleaning.

In addition, fabric sofas are not as durable as leather sofas, so it's best to avoid sitting in the same spot all the time. If you find loose threads, do not pull them off; use scissors to trim them neatly. If the cushions are removable, it's best to flip them over once a week to ensure even wear.

Secondly, clean the sofa with a cleaning agent once a year, but the cleaning agent must be thoroughly rinsed off afterward, otherwise it will be more prone to staining. It's best to choose a specialized cleaning agent containing stain repellent. Fabric-covered sofas with removable covers are generally washable. Elastic covers can be washed in a home washing machine, while larger cotton or linen covers can be taken to a dry cleaner.

When ironing the covers, note that some elastic covers are quick-drying and wrinkle-free. If ironing is necessary, consider the fabric's appearance; ironing the inside of the cover is more suitable. Cotton covers should not be ironed. To complement the above two steps, you must also follow these five points:
1. Vacuum at least once a week, paying particular attention to removing dust from between the fabric fibers.
2. If the cushions are reversible, rotate them weekly to ensure even wear.
3. If stained, wipe with a clean, damp cloth. To avoid leaving marks, it's best to wipe from the outside of the stain inwards. Velvet furniture should not be cleaned with water; use a dry cleaning agent instead.
4. All fabric covers and linings should be dry-cleaned, not machine washed, and bleaching is prohibited.
5. If loose threads are found, do not pull them off by hand; use scissors to neatly trim them.
